High Praise for this TV5
I have traditionally been a fan of the Sharp, or Sony TV’s, however, I was looking for a TV to fit in a cabinet in my bedroom. I wanted to get the largest one that would fit my space restrictions. The Samsungs, in general, seem to sit lower on their stands than most other brands and really provided the only 32 inch option that would fit my height restrictions. I sure am glad this was the case.

This TV is wonderful. The best part is the picture. It just looks great. The swivel stand is a very nice touch too. I hadn’t been looking for it, but it is quite useful as the TV is not directly in front of the bed. The settings and adjustments available are plentiful and adequate. The menus to access them are clean and intuitive.

Another wonderful feature is the energy saving modes. One can set varying levels of energy saving which controls the intensity / brightness of the light for lower power consumption. There is even an auto mode that will adjust the intensity based on what is currently on the screen. This is perfect for the bedroom. When it is late and I am starting to fall asleep I don’t like the TV as bright. Energy saving mode is perfect for this and it saves power.

Another feature that I have been wanting in a TV and didn’t have until now is a volume moderator. The TV will increase or lower volume automatically to make up for varying source volumes.

The TV seems performant. I haven’t had a chance to plug my gaming laptop into one of the 4 HDMI inputs, but with heavy action scenes on TV I haven’t seen any ghosting of images. Blacks look black and colors are sharp. No noticable artifacts of any kind.

All in all I am very happy with the purchase.

Black screen after two months. Read the fine print in your warranty1
2 months after receiving this TV the screen has gone black. Samsung instructed us to ship it to a service repair center and shipping is the responsibility of the customer. I called UPS and the cost to custom-pack a 32″ televisions is 120 $. I called Samsung to request a box to ship it in and they re-iterated, shipping is the responsibility of the customer – but would send me a return label. So now we have an 800 $ television that’s going to cost 120 $ to pack for warranty. We’ve only had it two months. I see from another reviewer that sending it Samsung is no guarantee the television will come back any time soon.

On a related note – up until 2008 Samsung’s 32″ televisions received free in-home repair service. As of 2009 32″ is now considered “small” and must be shipped to the manufacturer for service.

Great TV just don’t throw away the box and if it breaks take a deep breath and don’t bother calling Samsung for sympathy.

Update September 17, 2009: It’s been a month and we still don’t have our TV back. We’ve called Samsung every week since they received it. Today we were told the replacement part would take too long to arrive and they would begin the process of approving a replacement television. This process entails Samsung repair shipping the TV to Samsung corporate. Once corporate receives the TV they can can process the replacement. If our TV is no longer available they will offer us something “comparable”. This new phase should take “less than a month”.

Fabulous Television, Amazingly Fine Delivery Service5
Yes, I agree with the other reviews so far that the 32-inch Samsung is simply the best TV of its size. Did extensive side-by-side viewings before buying it, and it worked and looked perfect right out of the box.

Speaking of “right out of the box,” why doesn’t Amazon mention the outstanding delivery service by Pilot Freight? The unit was promised in four days, they called and asked if they could deliver it in three. They had two people bring it in, unpack it and set it up, plug the set into the cable box and plug the DVD player into the set, turn everything on and verify that it all worked. They showed me how to use the control, cleaned up everything and removed all of the packing and clutter. Great job, far better than expected. Both the set and the unexpected white glove delivery service are superb.

Samsung stands out in hdtv!!!5
Very impressed with my new Samsung LN32B460. very easy to set up with the on screen plug and play setup.Bought this tv for my bedroom looks great with the sleek design and appereance. The contrast is unreal life like picture. Can’t beat the price of 599.00 plus free shipping and no TAX!!!Fast delivery ordered on 04-19-09 recieved it on 04-22-09.Highly recommend the Samsung LN32B460 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Nice Looking But Problem Already?3
TV arrived delivered from CEVA in perfect condition. However, when I plugged it in, there’s a high pitched buzzing sound. When I unplug, it is not there. Anyone else had this issue? I will be calling Samsung to report and ask for options. I’ll review my rating afterwards.

**Update ao 5-29-09: Called Samsung and was told a tech would come for in-home servicing. Called service company to schedule the appt. but was told I would have to mail it in and it could take up to 21 days for servicing and return. I called Amazon Customer Service and they are sending me a new unit and the delivery people will pick up the defective unit and take it back. I am much more satisfied with Amazon’s swift resolution than Samsung and their vendor servicing through CVE. Apparently, any sets under 37 inches must be mailed to their facility for servicing. The only concession is that they will extend your warranty by 90 days but on the other hand, you’re out of the tv for almost a month! Amazon handled the transaction very well. Will update rating upon re-delivery.

Great Picture and Sound – Port Selection was interesting5
This is a new model (out March 2009), and is the just released ‘B’ version of the popular, judging by the many reviews, samsung ‘A’ version 32 inch TV. I wanted a TV with an excellent value for a 32 inch TV with a good 720p picture and sound. The picture is actually fantastic and looks good on the standard setting and really stunning at the dynamic setting (if the room is light enough), and in the store looked slightly better then Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-32S5100 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black even though that TV is a 1080p one. I did a visual comparison of the two for a while in the store becuase I was trying to justify going 1080p but couldnt since this picture seemed better even at 720p. If I could, I would have gone for the Sony BRAVIA XBR KDL-32XBR9 32-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV which looked the best though for a 32 inch overall.

720p vs 1080p:
I couldn’t understand why a 1080p TV would make a difference with this size of TV, since I sit about nine feet away and at that distance I don’t think you could tell – at least the PC input is small enough and sharp enough that I can read web pages comfortably from my couch but if it were any smaller it would be too small/detailed. I dont think I would use more than 720p detail unless I wanted to see more web page content on the screen and planned to sit about 4 feet away. The TV has exactly the same resolution asToshiba Satellite U305-S2804 13.3-inch Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium) which is what I plugged into the PC input and looks identical to that screen. Also, most Hi Def inputs to my TV aren’t more than 720p anyway. I think one over the air station is 1080i.

Standard DEF Input Handling:
For 480i or standard def inputs at a non wide screen resolution, such as those from my cable box, it handles it extremely well. However, I have a digital cable box (verizon QIP6416-2) with an HMDI, component, svideo, and RCA even though the signal I get is only standard def. I didn’t want to use up an HDMI port on the TV so I tried connecting the component but the color didn’t work. This is an issue with the cable box, not the TV. I had to use the HDMI in the end since there was no s-video (a small negative for this TV) and didnt want to use the RCA. On the plus side, this TV has a great setting called wide fit/move that slightly streaches and zooms a 4/3 picture to fit the 16/9 widescreen. The move comes into play if you have channel that has scrolling text that becomes cut off at the bottom, so you can nudge the picture up a bit (which chops off the top more but you need to make a comprimose somewhere).

Shines with HD inputs:
When I hooked the component connections up to an HD upscaling DVD player Samsung DVD-HD860 Up-Converting DVD Playerthough that worked perfectly with the component connection. My beloved Roku Roku Digital Video Player box is using the 2nd HDMI connector which looks great, and the over the air antenna CLEARSTREAM2 Antenna brings in over the air free HD on about 20 HD channels. All the HD sources (laptop, antenna, roku, upscaling DVD) really shine. Sound is good and I don’t feel I need to get add on home theater sound since I dont turn the TV up loud. I guess an extra HDMI connection would have been nice, especially since there was no S-video, but I still give the TV 5 stars as it is a new model and is thus forward looking.

THE BEST LCD ON THE MARKET FOR ITS PRICE, PERIOD…5
I badly needed a new television, and decided on a whim to head to best buy and see what was available. I hadn’t been shopping for tv’s in around 7 years, and from what I remembered that was when plasmas were amazing but all cost upwards of $4,000, and LCD, as a technology, just wasn’t there yet. To my amazement the TV’s in the store, even those well under $1,000, all looked fantastic. I settled on this tv after comparing it, endlessly, to other 32-inch models by Sony, Toshiba and LG. The Samsung had the best clarity, image depth and color. For only $550, this TV is gorgeous…standard cable looks good, DVD looks fantastic, and HD is just amazing. After initially thinking I wanted a 1080p HD, not 720p, I realized that in this size it just doesn’t matter, and isn’t worth the extra money. In all honesty, I felt like the 1080p image in this size television is a bit too sharp, a bit too bright and a bit too clear…it almost makes everything look like a cartoon or a video game. In the end, you really can’t beat this television…the internal speakers sound great, it looks damn sexy in any room, and the picture quality makes you wonder why you paid so little…

Excellent Buy! Excellent Brand! Excellent Quality!5
Much like many of the other customers who purchased the Samsung 32″ B Series LCD television, I too, did MUCH research before buying this television. After going to Target, Walmart, BestBuy, and various online stores, I decided to purchase the Samsung after MANY comparisons, and for only $499.99 at BestBuy.

Between the price, brand name, and overall quality we can expect from Samsung, it just made sense to buy this television set over Sony. This television was bought with the intention of not spending more than $500 and having it perform at least above average for my bedroom.

Upon looking at comparable televisions, the Samsung had an AMAZING picture. It was EXCEPTIONALLY clear and very clean, new, and expensive looking. The options were exactly what I wanted: Computer input, 2 HDMI cable inputs, and multiple component inputs. It was 720P but after speaking with many owners and doing more and more research, it just isn’t worth the money to purchase a 1080p TV set ($700+) when you WON’T be able to tell ANY real difference under 40″ television sets – THAT IS A GUARANTEED FACT!

Hope that helped….
