First of all I want to say, too, that I experienced the bug where the TV comes on suddenly turns itself off, but after installing the firmware upgrade that Samsung posted 4 / 5 the problem has disappeared.

I agree with other reviewers that the picture is amazing. I am also happy to see that Samsung has added an HDMI port 4. I was initially concerned that the “light touch” might clash with my style, but is very thin, especially if you mount the TV inside the cabinet. “Infolink” feature is nice and easy to configure, but I do not see as very useful.

Now for some caveats. I bought this TV right after setting up an LNT4661F for my inlaws, and I was very surprised to realize that the A650 is missing several features from the 4661F, despite A650 costs $ 650 more. For starters, the A650 has a rear S-video port (only one side S-video port). This is probably not a big problem for most people, but if you are using an older VCR or cable box, etc will have a cable attached to the side of the TV. Furthermore, there is only a composite port on the back of your TV, plus one on the side. If you want to switch from three cam surveillance consists of entry, etc. ‘re out of luck. Than a concern for me was that the A650 has only 1 antenna input versus 2 on the 4661F. This means that the A650 is not possible to connect both the antenna and a cable input. I believe that all the data uses a Samsung set top box in order to cut corners there.

By far my biggest complaint is the remote control. Again unlike the 4661F, A650 is NOT a universal remote control! This is essentially a simple TV remote control, although able to control Samsung “Anynet +” components connected via HDMI. This seems to be a big step backwards and bothers me more than other features have been removed. Furthermore, the remote is not described on the site of Samsung, so I had no way of knowing that the distance was “de-improved”. I agree with other reviewers that the navigation wheel is horrible … spins freely which makes it practically useless … spin your dial to make your selection, then as you move your finger to press the Enter button inside the scroll wheel moves the wheel and select the wrong value. One might wonder “what were they thinking?”. I saw the toys burger with better tactile feedback!

Despite my criticisms and annoyance that some features were removed, I still rated this TV as a 5 star in my book, because the image quality is by far the biggest consideration and it seems big to me. Furthermore, the aesthetic is very beautiful and new features such as HDMI and 4 are for Infolink removed features and poor remote control.
